Navigating the River of Thoughts

Last updated: August 14, 2024

This was an early experiment (2024) in using AI-generated images to illustrate personal ideas. I was trying to combine Obsidian journaling with image generation to make abstract concepts more concrete. The tone is informal and presentation-style. It was originally written as a talk outline. I've kept it as-is rather than rewriting, since the experiment itself is part of the point.

The River of Thoughts: A Journey

Drowning in Thoughts

Drowning in thoughts

Picture this: you're in a river, head deep. Water's rushing into your mouth. That's your thoughts. Some days you're barely floating, others... well, you're going under. It's exhausting, right?

The Aha Moment

The aha moment

One day, you realize: "This can't go on!" You're taking in more than you can handle. All water, no fish, just feeling bloated with random thoughts. Time for a change.

Learning to Swim

Learning to swim

First things first: close that mouth! Start "vomiting" (gross, but stick with me, it's mind dumping). Feels better already, doesn't it? You're lighter now, starting to float.

Finding the Shore

Finding the shore

With your new energy, you swim to the edge. Whoa! There's a whole world outside the river! The stream keeps flowing without you. Wild, right? It's like quitting Instagram and realizing life goes on.

Sipping, Not Gulping

Sipping, not gulping

Now you're drinking from your hands. Small sips, not giant gulps. You're in control, choosing what to take in. Feeling refreshed instead of waterlogged.

Crafting Your Tools

Crafting your tools

Boredom kicks in (hello, creativity!). You make a spear, time to fish for ideas. Your thoughts? They're becoming clearer, sharper. You're not just floating anymore, you're thriving.

Mastering the Art

Analysis time: how can we do this better? Aha! A fishing rod! (Hello, journaling skills.) You're not just managing thoughts, you're finessing them. Life by the river is looking pretty good.

The Balanced Life

The balanced life

Now you're chillin' on the shore. Take a dip when you feel like it. The river's still there, but it's not running your life. You've found your rhythm, your peace.

The Magic of Writing It Down

Writing it down

Journaling is like building your raft. Dump your thoughts on paper when they're too much. Fish out the good ideas with your pen. Create your own operator's manual for your mind.

Remember: not every thought deserves a VIP pass to your brain. Your river, your rules. Grab that journal, start writing. Find your shore, build your tools, enjoy the swim!
